UCI CAMP COMING

The UC Irvine baseball program will be conducting youth baseball skill sessions on three Saturdays in December, and a two-day youth baseball clinic at the end of the month.

From 9 a.m. to noon on Dec. 1, 8 and 15, young players, ages 6 to 13, will be able to learn for $75 each session, or $200 for all three.

The final youth baseball clinic, which is $200, is Dec. 22-23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

MAHELONA PICKED UP

Defensive tackle Jesse Mahelona, a former Orange Coast College standout, has been signed by the Atlanta Falcons, who play against Indianapolis today.

Mahelona was originally selected by the Tennessee Titans in the fifth round (169th overall) of the 2006 NFL draft. In his rookie season with the Titans, he compiled 21 tackles and one sack in 10 games. Mahelona was waived by Tennessee in September and was signed by Miami. The Dolphins released him last month.
