Ropage Salon returns to Forest Avenue

Ropage Beauty Supply and Salon will reopen on Forest Avenue after a five-year stint on Ocean Avenue.

A lease has been signed for 265 Forest, a conditional-use permit has been approved, and Ropage is expected to open for business at the new location by the end of February.

“We wanted to be back in the heart of downtown,” owner Len Weinstein said. “We would like to have stayed on Forest.”

Five years ago, Weinstein and his wife, Elaine, unhappily decided they could not afford a rent increase and moved from their pink, turquoise and white cottage-style shop to 435 Ocean, a former art gallery.

Another beauty supply shop applied to the city for their Forest Avenue location, but was denied on the basis of saturation. Art for the Sol moved in and changed the look of the avenue with a vibrant paint job.

In addition to beauty supplies, the store will continue to have salon, aesthetician and notary services. Ropage has been in business in Laguna for 41 years.
