Tran to have toy drive at Costa Mesa office

Assemblyman Van Tran will hold his second annual Christmas Toy Drive with the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program on Tuesday at his Costa Mesa office.

Local Marines will be on hand to accept the gifts from 5 to 7 p.m., though the Assemblyman’s office notes that donors could drop gifts off any time.

“As the holiday approaches, we honor our courageous men and women in uniform who have sacrificed so much for our nation,” the Assemblyman said in a statement. “Duty called upon them to defend our freedom, and our duty as leaders will not stop at the end of the parade line. It’s up to our community to reach out and give a little support at Christmas to those families who have parents serving in Iraq or Afghanistan.”

Gifts must be a minimum of $10, or a quart-sized plastic bag filled with sundry care items.
