COSTA MESA — Senior guard Jessica Richter scored a game-high 29 points, one of five Lions in double figures in the Golden State Athletic Conference romp Wednesday at Vanguard.

Freshman guard Sarah Boyd had 12 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for Vanguard (6-1, 3-0 in conference), ranked No. 2 in the NAIA. Senior forward Melissa Cook also had 12 points for the winners, who won their 49th straight regular-season conference game.

The Lions outshot Fresno Pacific, 54% to 22%, also holding the visitors to a one-for-20 showing from three-point range.

Kari Cox led the Sunbirds (2-3, 0-3) with eight points.

COSTA MESA — Four players scored in double digits for the Pirates in the nonconference game Wednesday.

Courtney Ford led with 16 points, followed by Sarah Schmidt (14), Casey Gomez (12), and Katie Kissee (10). Rachael Maulit added nine assists and five steals, while Schmidt led with seven rebounds. The Pirates (10-1) jumped out to a 16-3 lead within the first 3 minutes of the game. Orange Coast will play at Cerritos Friday at 7 p.m.

COSTA MESA — Senior forwards Matt Davis and De’Auonte’ Johnson led Vanguard to its fifth win of the season, scoring 14 and 13 points, respectively, in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Wednesday.

The Lions (5-2, 2-1 in conference) led the Sunbirds 21-15 at halftime, and outshot Fresno Pacific 44.9% to 30.4%. Sophomore center Tony Trajceski finished with 10 points and eight rebounds, and Davis added eight rebounds as well. Johnson was 4 for 6 from the free-throw line.
