Assemblyman promotes supporting gifts for troops

Assemblyman Chuck DeVore will participate in the fourth annual “Operation Christmas for Our Troops” drive this holiday season, encouraging constituents to donate toys, new or used DVDs or video games, and gift cards for men and women serving overseas.

“I have empathy for every military member serving overseas,” he wrote in a release. “I would urge everyone as they do their holiday shopping this year to remember those military members and their family members by purchasing an extra toy, DVD or CD to donate to this worthwhile effort.

Organizers of the event report collecting nearly 100,000 gifts for California’s military families during the last three drives.

Donations can be dropped off at Assemblyman DeVore’s district office at 3 Park Plaza, Suite 275, in Irvine. Those with more questions about the program are encouraged to call the office at (949) 863-7070.
