CdM doubles teams will play today, pending rain

A pair of Corona del Mar High doubles teams are scheduled to resume play at the CIF Southern Section Individual girls’ tennis championships today at Seal Beach Tennis Center.

CdM sophomores Hailey Hogan and Melissa Matsuoka, as well as the Sea Kings’ other team of juniors Paige Polizois and Danielle Kaiden, are scheduled to begin semifinal play at 10:30 a.m. However, rain is in the forecast for this morning.

CdM Coach Brian Ricker said the CIF Southern Section will make a decision on possible match postponement today at 8 a.m. If the semifinals and finals are postponed, they will be rescheduled Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.

The tournament has already been postponed once, because of rain on Nov. 30.

No. 2-seeded Hogan and Matsuoka will face Molly Aloia and Haley Dixon of Great Oak (Temecula) in one semifinal. In the other, Polizois and Kaiden will go against No. 1-seeded Brynn Boren and Kristina Smith of Dana Hills.
