OCC’s Reed, teammates are all-conference picks

Orange Coast College sophomore Jacqi Reed tops a list of four Pirates named All-Orange Empire Conference by the conference’s women’s volleyball coaches.

Reed, a 6-foot-1 outside hitter, is a first-team honoree.

Emily Lyon, Jessica Roy and Rebecca Lowe represent Coach Chuck Cutenese’s OCC squad on the second team, after helping lead the Pirates, the two-time defending state champions, to a 15-7 record, 9-5 in conference.

Reed led the Pirates with 317 kills, more than double the amount produced by the second most productive hitter on the team. She also led the team with 29 ace serves and was second with 203 digs. She also contributed 24 solo blocks and 15 block assists for OCC, which was eliminated in the first round of the Southern California Regional playoffs, 30-21, 31-29, 30-23, by College of the Canyons.

Roy, a 5-10 sophomore middle blocker, had 152 kills and a team-best .451 hitting percentage. Her 27 solo blocks and 49 block assists both led the squad and she also contributed 18 aces.

Lowe, a 5-10 sophomore middle blocker, had 151 kills and hit .448. She had 38 block assists and 12 solo blocks.

Lyon, a 5-8 freshman setter, amassed 794 assists, while also contributing 120 digs, and 28 service aces.
