Registration open for youth and teen program

Enrollment is open for South Coast Repertory’s Theatre Conservatory Youth and Teen Program, running Jan. 8 through March 15.

Winter session classes in the youth program are available for children in grades three through six; the teen program offers classes for students in grades seven through 12.

Classes meet Saturdays, or after school Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays.

Students who remain in the program for two years are allowed to audition for parts in productions staged by the Youth, Teen and Summer Players in South Coast Repertory’s Nicholas Studio.

With a teacher recommendation, second-year students are also eligible to audition for “A Christmas Carol,” the theater company’s annual holiday show.

Theatre Conservatory Director Hisa Takakuwa leads the Youth and Teen Program, and said the group’s goal is to inspire students to not only discover their talents but to take risks.
