COSTA MESA — The Lions’ top four scorers made 20 of 25 field-goal attempts (80%) in the nonconference game Saturday.

Arvydas Vaitiekus, a 6-foot-11 senior center, was five of five from the field for his 10 points and had seven rebounds.

Greg Gussif, who had a team-high 13 points, was five of six from the field, three of four from three-point range.

Andrew Ellis (six of eight, 12 points) and Tony Trajceski (five of seven, 11 points) also helped VU improve to 7-2 with its fifth straight win.

LOS ANGELES — The host Lions (6-4) shot 50% from the field after halftime to rally in the nonconference game Saturday.

UCI (4-5) built a 31-30 halftime lead, led by sophomore point guard Kirian Ishizaki, who finished with a career-high 15 points. Ishizaki was six of eight from the field, including three of three from three-point range, but was the only Anteater to score in double figures.
