Women Lawyers Assn. elect new board member

Teal W. Anderson, an associate attorney with the Newport Beach firm Lents and Foley, has been elected to the board of directors for the Orange County Women Lawyers Assn. Anderson, a 2005 graduate of Whittier Law School and member of the Orange County Trial Lawyers Assn., was sworn in Dec. 3 along with several other new board members. Her practice has focused on employment law in the area of unpaid wage class action claims.

“I’m excited to hold my first professional board position,” Anderson said in a release. “I hope to bring educational programs to the organization that will enhance not only our practical legal skills, but promote the positive roles that lawyers play within our community.”

Anderson joined Lents and Foley, a firm co-founded by Costa Mesa City Councilwoman Katrina Foley, in 2006. Prior to working for the firm, she interned in the juvenile law department at the Orange County Public Defender’s Office.

Newport beverage maker helps wildfire victims

The Newport Beach office of Brown-Forman, a producer and marketer of Jack Daniel’s, Southern Comfort and other alcoholic beverages, presented a $20,000 check to the United Way’s Southern California Wildfires Relief Fund last week. “Brown-Forman employees were very fortunate to have not been immediately affected by the devastating fires that swept Southern California,” said R. B. Wedel, director of the Pacific States for Brown-Forman, in a release. “With this contribution to United Way’s Wildlife Relief Fund, we wish the families and communities impacted a speedy recovery and a new beginning in 2008.”
