Axton takes two national victories, 16 poles in 2007

Willy Axton, an eight-year-old at Woodland Elementary, won two national Go-Kart races and placed in the top three at three national races this season.

Axton, who won the Los Angles Kart Club Championship and the Tri-County Kart Club Championship (which includes San Bernadino, Riverside, and Orange counties), recently concluded his second year of Go-Kart racing.

Axton recorded 17 wins, 24 top-five finishes, and 16 pole awards.

It was an improvement over last year, when Axton finished second in the 43rd annual California State Championships. He trailed the winner by just two-tenths of a second.
