Man overturns car, dies in parking lot in Newport

A Costa Mesa man died late Friday night after his car overturned in a single-vehicle accident in Newport Beach.

Donald Clark, 37, was driving south on Dove Street at about 11:15 p.m. when his 2004 Mercedes-Benz veered off the roadway and overturned in a parking lot. He died of his injuries at the scene. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Larry Esslinger, a supervising deputy coroner for the Orange County Coroner’s Office, said officials were waiting for toxicology results to determine if Clark had been under the influence at the time.
