Party the night away
Lagunans won’t have to leave town to do up the new year in style. From ballrooms to dance clubs, this town has it all.
Here are a few options.
The Montage Resort and Spa, 30801 S. Coast Hwy., will host several events in its ballroom and restaurants.
A New Year’s Eve Extravaganza will begin at 8 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom, featuring soul/funk performers Platinum Groove, a four-course dinner, party favors and a midnight champagne toast. The cost is $350 per person, which includes tax, gratuity, beverages and wine pairings. The reception will begin at 8 p.m., followed by dinner and entertainment from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
In the Loft, Chef John Cuevas will preside over a five-course prix-fixe menu with choice of appetizer, salad, entrée, cheese and dessert. The first seating is from 5 to 7:45 p.m. and is $70 per person. The second is from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. and is $160 per person. There will be live music by a jazz duo and the Michael George Band from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.; the evening includes dancing, party favors and a midnight champagne toast.
Studio also will feature a $350 five-course prix-fixe menu by chef James Boyce, which includes cocktails and an optional $150 wine pairing; dancing; a string quartet; solo guitar; jazz music; party favors and a midnight champagne toast. The evening will begin with an 8 p.m. reception, followed by dinner at 9 p.m. and dessert at 11 p.m.

Mozambique, 1740 S. Coast Hwy., will present a “Diamonds and Pearls” celebration from 8:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. with live music by Upstart in the Coastal Lounge and a complimentary midnight champagne toast with party favors.
Prix-fixe menus are $95 for a 5 to 7:30 p.m. seating or $120 for a 8 to 10:30 p.m. seating; prices do not include tax and gratuity.
A cover charge of $25 begins at 8 p.m. for those without dinner reservations; limited seating is available.
Guests with reservations for 8 p.m. or later are welcome to keep their table through midnight.
Limo van transportation is available for parties of eight or more within Laguna Beach city limits.

Club M, 680 S. Coast Hwy., will hold a party with a $30 cover charge that includes dancing from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m., party favors and complimentary champagne toast at midnight.
Its sister Japanese restaurant, Mosun, is offering limited dinner reservations with seatings at 6, 8 and 10 p.m. Every $50 spent earns a VIP pass into the club.

The White House Restaurant and Nightclub, 340 S. Coast Hwy., offers a five-course dinner, complimentary first cocktail, dancing, live reggae, a DJ, party favors and champagne beginning at 9:30 p.m.

From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., a $95-per-person menu includes a grilled peach amuse bouche; a first course of poached prawns; a second course of baby red romaine salad; an intermezzo champagne sorbet; and a choice of entrées including pan-seared John Dory, an 8-ounce prime beef filet mignon, Australian rack of lamb or Muscovy duck. Dessert is a choice of chocolate profiteroles or mascarpone cheesecake.
The second seating from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., $145 per person, includes a lobster ceviche amuse bouche; a first course of sweet parsnip bisque; a baby lettuce salad second course; a champagne sorbet intermezzo; and entrée selections including pan-seared John Dory, a whole lobster, an 8-ounce prime beef filet mignon, Australian rack of lamb or Muscovy duck. Dessert choices are chocolate profiteroles or mascarpone cheesecake.

The early seating is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for $55 per person, the late seating is from 8 to 10 p.m. for $95 per person. There will be live entertainment and dancing.
