A woman hit by a car Thursday morning on Wilson Street just east of Harbor Boulevard may have suffered deadly injuries, police said.

Laura Monteleone, 34, of Costa Mesa, was listed in critical but stable condition, police said. She had “significant skull fractures to the base and right side of her skull, brain trauma, multiple rib fractures,” Sgt. Robert Sharpnack said.

When police arrived at Center and Wilson streets at about 9 a.m. they found Monteleone lying on the road, bleeding from her ears and mouth, Sgt. Zack Hoferitza said. She was rushed to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.

Police conducted a sobriety test on the driver, Sergio Rico Delgado, 34, also of Costa Mesa, and found he was not intoxicated at the time of the crash, Hoferitza said.

But he was found to be at fault by investigators, police said. He was cited for driving with an expired license.

Anyone with information regarding this collision is urged to call Sharpnack at (714) 754-5122.
