Christmas trees to be taken by curbside for recycling

Newport Beach’s annual curbside Christmas tree recycling program will run Jan. 2-11.

Trees must be cut into pieces 4 feet or smaller and bundled with string for collection. Residents should place the trees by refuse containers for pickup on regular garbage collection days. Stands, lights and other metal pieces must be removed.

City workers will take the trees to the city yard to be chipped and used as mulch. Christmas trees collected after Jan. 14 will be taken to a recycling facility. For more information, call the Newport Beach General Services Department 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at (949) 644-3055.
