MISSION VIEJO — Sea Kings senior Omeed Alemi scored an unassisted goal in the second half to break a 1-1 tie in the consolation bracket of the Trabuco Hills Tournament Thursday at Trabuco Hills High.

Junior Michael Katz scored on a header to open the scoring for CdM against the Burbank-based school. Kevin Kottke earned an assist on that goal.

CdM junior Zak Maurer-Erickson had 10 saves for the winners (3-6-2), who continue tournament play today against an opponent to be determined.

SANTA BARBARA — Senior forward Joe Eberhard was four for four from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to seal a quarterfinal win for the Sea Kings in the Santa Barbara Holiday Classic Thursday night.

Corona del Mar (9-4) advanced to the semifinals as senior center Stefan Kaluz scored 23 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. Eberhard also had 23 points to help hand Pacific Palisades its second loss of the season.

Freshman guard Clayton Ragsdale had six points and four assists.

The Sea Kings will play tonight at 8:30 in a tournament semifinal against Upland or Clovis West.

COSTA MESA — The Sailors missed four free throws in the final 30 seconds in a consolation game of the Costa Mesa Winter Classic Thursday.

Newport Harbor (3-9) was ahead by 10 at halftime. Fountain Valley, which had no timeouts in the final 30 seconds, made two free throws with two seconds left.

Junior Corinne Schnieders scored eight points to lead Newport Harbor, while junior Christina O’Tousa had six points.

The Sailors play Costa Mesa in a consolation semifinal today at noon.

Tustin will face Laguna Hills in one semifinal, while Valencia of Valencia will play against Mission Viejo in the other semifinal tonight.
