Ventura 64, Orange Coast 40

VENTURA — Orange Coast managed just 22 points inside three-point range as its 13-game winning streak ended in the second game of the two-day Ventura Crossover Saturday at Ventura College.

OCC sophomore Courtney Ford was held to just nine points, less than half her 21.8-point average, as sophomore Katie Kissee, with 12 points, was the only OCC scorer in double figures. OCC had only six players who scored.

Orange Coast (16-2), which shares the No. 1 ranking in the state and Southern California with Mt. San Antonio College, was outscored in the first half, 20-17, by the state’s No. 7-ranked squad (16-4).

Ford had three fouls in the first half and eventually fouled out for OCC, which never came closer than three in the second half.

OCC returns to action Jan. 9, when it opens Orange Empire Conference play at Irvine Valley College.

HONOLULU, Hawaii — Senior forward Stephanie Duda produced a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough in the consolation final of the Bank of Hawaii Invitational Saturday.

Junior Kelly Cochran had 10 points on four-of-nine shooting for the Anteaters (4-9), who have lost five straight and six of their last seven.

UCI shot 35.2% for the game (19 of 54) and made 16 of 19 foul shots (84.2%).

William & Mary was 26 of 64 from the field (40.6%).

UCI committed 27 turnovers, while forcing just 21 and the Tribe won the rebounding battle, 44-35.

The Anteaters open Big West Conference play Friday at home against Cal State Fullerton at 7 p.m.

Tiffany Benson led four scorers in double figures with 17 points for the Tribe (6-6).
