Barbara Ann (Bobbie) Cook passed away on December 22, 2007 after a long struggle with cancer.

Bobbie was born in Elizabeth City, NC on June 24, 1943, and raised in Johnstown, PA. She attended Florida Southern in Lakeland, FL and graduated from Mount Aloysius College in PA. After graduation, she was employed with the CIA in McClean, VA. she met her husband, Robert (Bob) Cook in Pal Alto, CA, where Bobbie was a Security Administrator and Bob was a Field Services Engineer. They were married in 1970 and resided in Corona del Mar and settled in Costa Mesa in 1977 where they raised two sons, Philip (now of Atlanta, GA) and Dana (who still resides locally).

Bobbie worked for the Newport-Mesa Unified school District for nearly 20 years before her retirement in 2005. Her passion was to assist the students and families who were new to the school district - to help them adjust and feel welcome. Throughout her career, she was known for being a mentor to both new teachers and non-teaching staff. She worked at Mariners Elementary, was the Office Manager of Wilson Elementary, and ended her career as an Administrative assistant in the Human Resources Department.

Bobbie is survived by her husband, sons, brother William Crooks, nephews Michael, Christopher and Timothy and grandchildren, Shaun and Erin Cook. she leaves behind a legacy of compassion, love and strength.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be pleased with a donation to the Newport-Mesa Schools Foundation in Bobbi’s name which will assist the teachers of the school district in presenting innovative projects to their students.

The family will hold a private service.
