Newport Beach resident wins award for charity

Mark D. Simon, a Corona del Mar resident and Realtor for Prudential California Realty, was among eight people in Orange County honored Wednesday by Prudential Financial for charitable acts.

Simon received the Prudential CARES Volunteer Grants Award for his work with the Boys & Girls Club of Coachella Valley. He netted $250 after serving 66 hours as chairman of the club’s operations and foundation boards and overseeing fundraising and other administrative activities.

The Prudential Foundation announced $461,000 in volunteer grants to 444 nonprofits worldwide, with amounts ranging from $250 to $5,000.
