The Costa Mesa girls’ under-12 team of the advanced play program closed out 2007 with a Costa Mesa Classic championship Dec. 30.
Goalkeeper Gracie Dimond provided stellar saves throughout the tournament with three shutouts.
The bend-but-don’t-break defense of Emily Grady, Emily Gruber, Claudia Huerta and Marlene Calderon shut down some high scoring opposition.
The dominating midfield play of Amy Heil, Sophie Shambrook, Jacqueline Hubbard and Amanda Moore provided tireless support on both offense and defense.
The smothering pressure and offensive combination of the forwards bombarded the opposition.
Alondra Novoa and Jacqueline Hubbard scored three goals each. Jackie Tanner, Jayme Krohnfeldt and Cristina Tuer each added one goal.
The Costa Mesa girls’ under-12 APP team enjoyed success in 2007 by winning the McMillan Tournament in September, the Fall APP championship, and the Costa Mesa Classic.
