Governor’s talk will likely focus on state deficit

All eyes will be on the state’s budget woes today when Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger delivers the annual “State of the State” address from the State Capitol in Sacramento.

The address is scheduled for 3 p.m.

The thrust of the governor’s remarks will most likely focus on the state’s projected $14 billion deficit — with a particular focus on programs Schwarzenegger would like to cut to alleviate the crisis.

The governor’s targets will most likely include state funding for education, health care and welfare.

The governor reportedly has been meeting with many state leaders to warn that he may propose cuts as high as 10% in some sectors.
