Business club hosts Athens representative

Greg Vail, former Laguna Beach design review board member and planning commissioner, and current forward planning director at The Athens Group, will appear Thursday at the monthly breakfast meeting of the Laguna Beach Business Club.

Vail will address the Aliso Creek Redevelopment project, as well as issues of environmental mitigation and sustainability. The public is invited to attend.

Wolff new president of Business Club

Attorney Joshua Wolff has been named president of the Laguna Beach Business Club.

Wolff founded Wolff Law Corporation, a legal firm in Newport Beach, in 2005. The Bluebird Canyon resident is married to Peggy and has two daughters.

Wolff obtained a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from UC Berkeley in 1982, and a law degree from George Washington University National Law Center. He came to Orange County to practice law in 1988 and has lived in Laguna Beach since 1991.

Chamber plans installation dinner

The Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce will honor the “Harry Lawrence Person of the Year” and local businesses at its annual Spirit of Laguna Awards and Chamber Installation Dinner, from 7 to 10 p.m. Jan. 25 at Tivoli Too!, 777 Laguna Canyon Road.

In addition, awards will be presented for Premier Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year and Merchant of the Year.

New Years mixer in Three Arch Bay

Three Arch Bay will be the location for a New Years Mixer and Taste of South Laguna networking event sponsored by the Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at 32342 S. Coast Hwy.

Admission is $10 for chamber members and $15 for nonmembers.

Mozambique donates to Laguna firefighters

Mozambique Steakhouse raised $3,000 for Laguna Beach firefighters at a special Dec. 8 concert by members of the Rolling Stones’ band.

Many turned out to see world class musicians Blondie Chaplin, Bernard Fowler, Waddy Wachtel, Lisa Fischer, Darryl Jones and Phil Jones play rock ’n’ roll at the steakhouse.

A check for $3,000 raised during the event was presented Tuesday to the Laguna Beach City Council.

The funds will go toward the purchase of investigation video equipment, according to Acting Fire Chief Jeff Latendresse.
