NEWPORT BEACH — The Sailors had to settle for their seventh tie of the season after Fountain Valley scored with four minutes left in the Sunset League match Thursday.

Newport Harbor sophomore Elizabeth Eddy scored on an assist from fellow sophomore Brianna Schwartz in the 47th minute to give the Sailors (6-3-7, 1-0-2 in league) a 1-0 advantage.

Newport Harbor junior goalie Stephanie Castor recorded two saves.

The Sailors will play against Los Alamitos at Laurel High Tuesday at 3 p.m.

CORONA DEL MAR — Freshman goalie Lindsey Luke made six saves, including two point-blank stops, to keep the host Sea Kings close in the Pacific Coast League contest until the end Thursday.

The Hawks (10-4-3, 1-0 in league) scored in the first half, then finalized the scoring in the 80th minute.

CdM Coach Bryan Middleton said sophomore Brynn Johnson played well defensively for the Sea Kings (8-5-3, 1-1).

CdM returns to action Tuesday when it visits league rival Irvine at 5:45 p.m.

CORONA DEL MAR — The Sea Kings were shut out in a team-dual match for the first time under Coach Gary Almquist, who is in his 12th year.

CdM dropped to 7-12, 1-1 in league and will next wrestle at Irvine Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
