Sections of Superior Ave. to be closed in February

The construction of landscaped road medians on Superior Avenue wrapped up Friday ahead of schedule and within budget. The project extends from Ticonderoga Street along Superior Avenue to Dana Road.

The completed median project paves the way for the Newport Beach Public Works Department to begin repairs in February on asphalt pavement on Superior Avenue beginning at West Coast Highway and ending at the city’s northern edge just south of 16th Street.

The asphalt repair includes extensive grinding and overlaying of street pavement in both directions.

Construction crews will close all but one traffic lane in each direction on Superior during off-peak hours.

City officials urge drivers to use Newport Boulevard to avoid delays. For more information, call city project manager Andy Tran at (949) 644-3315.
