A group of Newport Harbor High School students in police custody are accused of assaulting a mentally disabled girl and posting a video of the beating online, police said.

Some of the teens were arrested Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of battery and conspiracy to commit battery after someone notified police about the video, police said. It was not immediately known how many students were arrested.

The video captures the battery of a young disabled student of Ensign Intermediate School, police said. Authorities declined to identify any of the suspects but did confirm that they were students at the high school.

School officials were not immediately available to discuss the attack.
