Corona del Mar High’s girls’ water polo victory over Back Bay rival Newport Harbor in Saturday’s Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions title game wasn’t enough to knock the Sailors from the No. 1 spot in the CIF Southern Section Division I poll released Monday.

Newport Harbor (15-2), which fell, 6-5, in overtime against the Sea Kings, making its record against CdM 2-1 this season, remains No. 1 in the Division. CdM (11-5) is in the No. 2 spot.

Newport-Mesa teams are also ranked in boys’ basketball and girls’ basketball.

CdM, the defending CIF Southern Section Division III-A champion in boys’ basketball is ranked No. 5 in the latest poll.
