Pirates look to stay atop OEC against Fullerton
Orange Coast College will try to stay undefeated in Orange Empire Conference action when it plays at Fullerton tonight at 7:30 in a clash of women’s basketball teams that rank in the top 10 in Southern California.
Sophomore Courtney Ford, a 5-foot-7 guard averaging 21.9 points and nine rebounds per game, is the reigning conference Player of the Year who needs 48 points to become the OCC’s all-time leading scorer. She has a season-high of 31 points this season. She has helped the Pirates (18-2, 2-0 in conference) to a No. 5 ranking in the state. They are ranked No. 3 in Southern California.
Katie Kissee, a 5-5 sophomore guard, averages 11.1 points per game and 5-5 sophomore point guard Rachael Maulit leads OCC in assists (6.9 per game) and steals (3.9 per game).
Amy Richard, Fullerton’s 6-1 center, leads the Hornets (11-10, 1-1) with 10.1 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game. Fullerton is ranked No. 16 in the state and No. 9 in SoCal.
