COSTA MESA — The host Pirates led the Orange Empire Conference game at halftime, 41-35, but shot 37% in the final 20 minutes Monday.

Brian Molina, a sophomore out of Costa Mesa High, had 18 points off the bench for the Pirates (5-17, 1-4 in conference), including three three-pointers.

Freshman Brian Helmuth chipped in 17 points for OCC, which was seven of 24 from beyond the arc (29.2%) for the game.

Sophomore Brian Gee made four three-pointers on his way to 15 points for OCC.

Anthony Dandy led Riverside with 23 points.

The Tigers (19-6, 3-2) outrebounded the hosts, 42-28.

Orange Coast returns to conference play by visiting Santa Ana Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
