A 28-year-old Cypress man is in custody today after leading Newport Beach police in a pursuit that took them through the east side of Costa Mesa, police officials said.

At about 3 a.m., Newport Beach police began pursuing Justin Robert Aaron in a stolen white 2006 Toyota Scion station wagon on the Balboa Peninsula, said Newport Beach police spokesman Evan Sailor. A short time later, Costa Mesa police joined the pursuit. Aaron drove north on Orange Avenue and lost control turning onto Mesa Drive, where he crashed onto the Santa Ana Country Club, said Costa Mesa Sgt. Bryan Wadkins. Police arrested Aaron after a short foot pursuit, Sailor said.

Aaron was on parole, Sailor said.
