Flames’ early lead paves way for win

The Flames jumped out to a 3-0 first-period lead on the Revolution and turned that quick start into a 5-3 Norris Division victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

Scott Jervik scored twice and had an assist, and Peter Skowron also had two goals to pace the Flames. Matthew Bird also scored, and Dane Peterson had an assist.

Matthew Manning registered 16 saves.

Garrett Felix, Riley Dix and Katrina Manalac scored for the Revolution. Joey Lambur and Stephen Kim each had an assist, and Ricky Meyer had 21 saves.

In other Norris Division action

Hornets 6, Ducks 2

The Hornets put up a pair of goals in each period to skate past the Ducks.

Scoring for the Hornets were Scott Begg, Brayden Moore, Maverick Knight, Alex Le Bas, Ethan Michaelis and Hunter Barrett. Moore added two assists, Dylan Palmer had an assist and Weston Bechtold finished with 24 saves.

Markus Boyer had a goal and assist, Tanner Osterkamp scored, and Logan Matsunaga recorded 23 saves for the Ducks.

Young Guns 9, Rink Rats 3

The Young Guns scored three goals in each period in defeating the Rink Rats.

Andrew DeCarlo’s two goals led a Young Guns attack that saw Shane Sandoval, Cole Geller, Keanu Maunula, Jeremy Williams, Shane Geller and Jesse Mellema all score. Cole Geller and Jared Nelson each had two saves, and Sandoval, Maunula and Williams each had an assist.

Connor Mellema had 16 saves.

Cole Pavlik scored twice, Patrick Standel had a goal and assist and Aaron Pumphrey recorded 15 saves for the Rink Rats.

Puckhogs 9, Stallions 3

The Puckhogs rolled to a 5-0 first-period lead en route to topping the Stallions.

Amanda Vongries, Julia Wong and Dylan Reightley all scored twice for the Puckhogs. Chris Hernandez and Marlin Liberatore also scored. Liberatore also led the team in assists with two while Vongries, Hernandez, Reightley, Connor Diliberto and Chris Chen each had an assist.

Timothy Fisk had 13 saves.

Scoring for the Stallions were Ryan Gehris, Brenden Crawford and Hunter Tait. Joshua Bailey and Danny Mattero each had an assist, and Mitchell Sprague recorded 18 saves.
