Karaoke-style contest to give out $1,000 prize
Orange County Market Place will give people the opportunity to prove they can carry a note in February and March with cash prizes for those who can stay in tune.
Karaoke Scene Magazine presents Songburst, a karaoke-style competition held for four consecutive Saturday’s starting Feb. 16, will be at the Orange County Fair and Expo Event Center.
The grand prize winner takes home $1,000, with other places taking $100 to $500 awards. Junior division winners receive their awards in saving bonds.
The qualifying rounds will be Feb. 16 and 23, and March 1 and 8. It is $5 to compete. The adult division is for those 18 and older while the junior division is for children 17 and under.
Up to five finalists will be selected per division on each date.
The finals will be March 29.
Contest registration begins at 9 a.m. for juniors and 10 a.m. for adults each Saturday.
