Lightning, Tartans battle in Academy showdown
Is this the year Sage Hill School finally overcomes its futility with Academy League archrival St. Margaret’s?
That’s the question for the girls’ soccer team, which tied the Tartans, 0-0, in a Jan. 14 game in Newport Coast. The teams will play at 3 p.m. today in San Jaun Capistrano.
The Lightning have tied St. Margaret’s before, but never have they beaten the Tartans.
Sage Hill (10-8-2) and St. Margaret’s (11-5-2), ranked No. 6 in CIF Southern Section Division VI, are both 7-0-1 in league.
In January, the Lightning’s defense was the key in the double overtime game. Sage Hill outshot St. Margaret’s 12-4, but neither could find the back of the net.
Sage is led by Harvard-bound senior Kellee Kim.
