The Newport Harbor High surf team dominated Marina, securing a victory in each event to win, 104-64, in nonleague competition at 56th Street Thursday morning.

Newport Harbor (7-1) won all four events and seven of the eight heats.

The boys’ shortboard squad won, 48-36, sweeping all four first-place positions. Chase Wilson, Cameron Clark, Tyler Tarlow and Bobby Okvist each recorded first-place finishes. Wilson’s 7.1 average was tops for the contest. Erik Heimstaedt and Graeme Chesnie both came in second, while Canon Call and Mark Contreras placed third.

The girls’ shortboard team won, 14-7, and remained undefeated at 8-0. Kaleigh Gilchrist finished in first for the seventh time this year. Hailey Sandberg took second place in her first shortboard competition this season.

The girls’ longboard squad won, 15-9, with a 1-2-3 finish. Sandberg placed first, Hannah Patrick was second and Courtney Mcphee was third for the winning team.

The bodyboarders also had a perfect day with a 15-9 victory. Yuji Kanbayashi took first, followed by teammates Joe Suzuki and Spencer Ruzicka, placing second and third, respectively.

The boys’ longboard squad won, 12-9. Andy Delorme’s 6.4 score secured first place. Robert Guy came in second.

Newport Harbor will return to action Wednesday when it meets Edison.
