Estancia plans stadium dedication, run
Online registration has opened for a community run in April that will serve as the inaugural event at Estancia High School’s new stadium, the first project to be finished under the Measure F school bond.
The stadium, which broke ground early last year, is set to be dedicated April 25. The following morning, the Newport-Mesa Unified School District plans to hold a community run that begins and ends in the stadium and passes through neighboring Fairview Park.
In addition to a pancake breakfast and a health fair, the program includes three different runs: a five-kilometer dash, a two-kilometer run and another five-kilometer run for teams of three or more. Estancia Principal Phil D’Agostino said the runs are scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m., with an awards ceremony to follow.
“It’s always been a big priority of mine to build a strong sense of community at Estancia, and this fits in really well with what we’re trying to do,” D’Agostino said.
To register for the event, go to www.active.com and enter the 92627 ZIP code in the “Things to Do Near You!” box on the right side of the screen.
