THAT’S DEBATABLE:

When Mitt Romney dropped out of the race for the GOP presidential nomination it essentially cleared the way for John McCain to win. Some have speculated Mike Huckabee stayed in to bolster his chances of getting a shot on the ticket with McCain. Newt Gingrich has said he would accept the vice-presidential nomination if McCain offers it. Other suggestions include Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, who extended a crucial endorsement of McCain before the Sunshine State’s primary, and even Romney. Who do you think would make the best running mate for McCain?

I think Mike Huckabee actually reduces his chances of being vice president on the ticket with McCain the longer he stays in the race.

He is keeping McCain from concentrating on the general election right now while having very little chance to succeed himself so that is unlikely to endear him to the McCain people. I also do not believe he would be a good VP choice. As far as who would, I think it is too early to make that determination. In couple of months we will have a better idea of where the Democrats are going with their nomination, and we will see where McCain is with the base of the Republican party. I think it would be better to let a few of these issues sort themselves out before picking a running mate.
