Pop Warner Football sign ups Wednesday

Huntington Beach Pop Warner Football will hold the first of four upcoming sign-up sessions for its 2008 fall season Wednesday at the Edison Community Center.

Registration for both players and cheerleaders will be between 5 and 9 p.m.

League divisions are as follows (age as of July 31, 2008): Cub (flag football, ages 5-6); Junior Mighty Mite (ages 7-8); Mighty Mite (ages 8-9); Jr. Pee Wee (ages 8-11); Pee Wee (ages 9-12); Junior. Midget (ages 10-13); Midget (ages 11-15).

All players and cheerleaders, with the exception of those in the Cub Division, must carry a minimum 2.0 GPA in order to participate in the league.

Future registration dates are March 19 (5 to 9 p.m.) at the Edison Community Center, April 26 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) at Edison High and May 18 (noon to 4 p.m.) also at Edison High.

Wolfpack Soccer Club tryouts Feb. 24

Wolfpack Soccer Club will hold its next tryout session for three of its fall division teams Feb. 24 at Moiola Field in Fountain Valley.

The times are as follows:

Under-12 (Silver Elite) team: 1 p.m. (birth date before July 31, 1996); Under-11(Bronze) team, 3 p.m. (birth date before July 31, 1997); Under-10 (Bronze) team: 3 p.m. (birth date before July 31, 1998).

Moiola School is located at 9790 Finch Ave.

Oilers alumni volleyball game set for March

Longtime Huntington Beach High volleyball coach Rocky Ciarelli will be involved with the final alumni game when Oilers players past and present reunite March 1.

The series started in 1985.

At 4 p.m. the first match is an alumni vs. alumni setup, followed at 6 p.m. by an alumni vs. the 2008 Oilers’ boys’ team.

Male and female alumni, as well as parents, are welcome.

The program will hold a post-event reception at 8:30 p.m. at Baci Restaurant in Huntington Beach.
