Two hospitalized after Costa Mesa crash

A Santa Ana driver witnesses said was driving about 60 mph through the rain Thursday night lost control of his car and crashed into two trees on Sunflower Avenue near South Coast Plaza, leaving himself and the passenger hospitalized, police said Friday.

Cesar Rojas, 24, does not have a driver’s license and was driving west down Sunflower Avenue past Fuschia Street about 9 p.m. when his car careened off the road and into the trees, police said. No other cars were involved in the accident. He and the passenger, 34-year-old Rosalia Ceron, were taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana for their injuries.

Police are still investigating the accident.
