Man arrested after fleeing accident scene, police say

Police pointed a man driving in the wrong direction on Fair Drive in Costa Mesa in the right direction Sunday — straight to the station, police said.

Borith Vang, 20, of Los Angeles was arrested on suspicion of DUI, hit and run, and evading police, Sgt. Jerry Hildeman said.

Vang was in a minor accident at 16th Street and Newport Boulevard about 10 a.m. in his Jeep Cherokee. He fled the scene to the 55 Freeway and was pulled over on Fair Drive, Hildeman said.

He then slowed but did not stop and attempted to evade police by turning around quickly, but ended up going the wrong way, Hildeman said.

Police initiated a high-risk stop, got Vang out of the car and arrested him, Hildeman said. Police believe he may have been under the influence of medication.
