Leadership Group Takes A Stand On Global Warming ? Completes Tree Planting Project

Newport Beach-- Five Leadership Academy graduates went the extra mile to complete their vision of creating environmental awareness by planting 500 trees in our communities. They exceeded their goal with over 600. Plantings were done in the Upper Newport Back Bay area, at the homes of recent San Diego wild fire areas, as far as Argentina, to all of the Southern California counties.

This group of leaders started in December and prepared a plan of action with a vision. They took action and in 24 hours got more than 160 threes planted. Proving that with commitment, dedication, and enrollment anything is possible. The project was completed with a bang, while planting over 250 plants in the Upper Newport Back Bay area with over 30 volunteers supporting their vision.

With the awareness of global warming continuing to escalate, the concern for the amount of carbon dioxide vs. oxygen in our environment does too. For example, 1.9 pounds of carbon dioxide is produced with every 1000 kilowatt-hours used; where a single tree produces approximately 260 pounds of oxygen per year. It’s amazing to think that one tree can absorb as much carbon dioxide in a year as a car produces while driving 26,000 miles, and one ton over the course of its life.

Leadership team member, Veronica Barrionuevo said “we want everyone to know what our vision is, to know about environmental awareness, and how planting just one tree CAN make a difference.”
