Local Nonprofit Receives Outstanding Contributions to Education Award

Costa Mesa-- Community & School Collaboration announced that on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008 it received the Outstanding Contributions to Education Award for its FAST (Families and Schools Together) Programs at Whittier and Pomona Elementary Schools in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District.

The award presented by William M. Habermehl, Superintendent of Schools and the Orange County Department of Education, recognizes the contributions of individuals, groups and organizations whose unique efforts have impacted the education of Orange County students. Receiving the award on behalf of Community & School Collaboration were Stacy Holmes, Pomona Elementary, Principal; Tracy Carter, Whittier Elementary, Principal; FAST Team Members Reyna Belyrin and Elena Chavez; FAST Team Leader, Eunice Pimentel and Sylvia Cassasola, Whittier Elementary Community Facilitator.

Celebrating 10 years of service, Community and School Collaboration has received this award in recognition of its continued effort to help the under-served, at risk, preschool through sixth grade students of Orange County, succeed in their education as well as contribute to their communities.
