STOCKTON — The Anteaters set a school record for most goals in a game with their Mountain Pacific Sports Federation road victory Sunday.

UCI broke the old record of 18 set in 2006 against Pacific. Junior Ashling Taylor, a Newport Harbor High product, senior Nicole Flacco and freshman Caitlin Haskell scored three goals each for UCI (9-6, 2-3 in conference).

The Anteaters play host to San Diego State Friday at 7 p.m.

IRVINE — The No. 35-ranked Anteaters won two of three doubles matches to clinch the doubles point, but dropped four in singles in a nonconference match against No. 48-ranked Saint Mary’s Sunday.

Freshman Brooke Bartlett, in No. 4 singles, and junior Heidi Kaloi, in No. 6 singles, won for UC Irvine (6-5).

The Anteaters will play at Long Beach State Saturday at 11 a.m.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Vanguard 91, Biola 75

LA MIRADA — Senior Jessica Richter came off the bench to score 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, both game highs, for the No. 4-ranked Lions in their Golden State Atheltic Conference game Saturday.

Junior Lauren Gregory added 24 points, while freshman Sarah Boyd scored 15 points and senior Lindsey Rinke posted seven rebounds, eight points, and three steals for Vanguard (21-4, 17-2 in conference). Lions senior Melissa Cook had nine rebounds and five steals.

The Lions end the regular season at Hope International today. The Lions need a win and a loss by first-place Point Loma, ranked No. 3, to pull out a tie for the conference title.

PLNU (24-2, 18-1) plays host to San Diego Christian (3-16, 9-20) today in its bid to end Vanguard’s reign of the GSAC. The Lions have won five straight GSAC regular-season titles.

Vanguard has clinched the No. 2 seed for the GSAC Tournament that begins Wednesday.

LA MIRADA — Senior Greg Gusiff scored 28 points for the Lions in their Golden State Athletic Conference game Saturday.

He was eight for 11 from three-point range. Sophomore Dennis Heenan, a Newport Harbor High product, contributed 16 points,while senior Arvydas Vaitiekus and sophomore Greg Scott added 11 points each for Vanguard (19-9, 12-7 in conference).

Danny Jones, who led the Eagles (16-13, 8-11) with 21 points, missed two free throws with one second remaining.

Vanguard plays at Hope International today at 7:30 p.m. in its regular-season finale. The Lions are tied for fourth with Point Loma Nazarene.

The GSAC Tournament begins Thursday with the top four seeds playing home games. Vanguard is a fifth seed going into tonight’s games, which include San Diego Christian at PLNU.

AZUSA — The Lions were swept by the No. 2-ranked Cougars in a Golden State Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday.

Senior left fielder Luke Iverson went two for three with one RBI, while junior first baseman Derek Craddock his first home run of the season, a two-run shot in the first game for Vanguard (6-11, 2-9 in conference).

Junior right fielder Jason Machado hit his fourth home run of the season in the fourth inning of the second game for the Lions.

APU improved to 17-1, 9-1.

Vanguard plays host to Concordia Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
