Those of us who remember Feb. 22 was the birthday of George Washington may have felt a little disappointed.

I combed the Daily Pilot for some mention of General Washington — our first president of the Republic. Found art, housing, 666 address change, still looking.

Hmmm. Hmmm. More art, shopping, sports, water pollution and lots of other stuff. No mention of George.

Possibly I was just confused. No, I checked the calendar, and Feb. 22 is correct.

I thought a reminder would be good and a quote from George appropriate:

“As mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow, that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protection of the civil government.

I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations in examples of justice and liberality.”

I do not think George was referring to socialism. However, you can make up your own mind.

Clinton’s futile attacks ensure GOP president

Rarely have I seen a political party so bound and determined to lose its bid for the White House.

I am fascinated that neither Hillary Clinton nor the Democratic Party machine are able to grasp the fact that she will not be the party’s nominee.

In the death throes of her campaign, the knives have come out against Sen. Obama, virtually guaranteeing his reputation as a candidate who will be destroyed by June.

She and her supporters antics ensure a Republican victory in November.

The only thing that remains for Sen. McCain and the Republicans is to avoid doing anything stupid between now and November.
