The Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce and the South Coast Metro Alliance will host the 2008 Hall of Fame Awards luncheon on Friday, April 4 at the Hilton in Costa Mesa.

Being honored are: Betty R. Moss of the Orange County Business Committee for the Arts, Inc. who will receive the Community Spirit Award; South Coast Plaza will receive the Corporate Leadership Award; and Becky Bailey-Findley, CEO of the Orange County Fair & Event Center, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

And speaking of the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce — Orange County Board of Supervisor Chair John Moorlach will present the State of the County on Thursday, March 20 at the chamber’s 90-Minute Breakfast Boost.

The breakfast will be held at the Costa Mesa Country Club at 1701 Golf Course Drive. Reservations are $15 per person and can be made using the contact information above.

Speaking of politicians, State Sen. Tom Harman will speak at the Tuesday, March 18 luncheon meeting of the Rotary Club of Costa Mesa, being held at the Marriott Suites, 500 Anton Blvd., Costa Mesa.

Where it all began

Just as we approach the observance of Holy Week, you are invited by Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church for an informative evening, to learn about the history of where it all began.

“The History of the Holy Land: Yesterday and Today” features guest speaker, Dr. Charles Frazee, professor of church history at the Episcopal Theological School in Claremont.

The evening is part of the monthly Speaker Series 2008, sponsored by the church, and will be held on Thursday, March 13 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in O’Donnell Hall, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1441 West Balboa Blvd., Newport Beach (at the corner of 15th Street and Balboa Boulevard on the Balboa Peninsula).

The meeting is open to the public, and there is no charge for attendance.
