UCI’s Linton named Big West Player of the Week
UC Irvine junior Ollie has been named Easton Big West Player of the Week after batting six for 15 (.400), collecting eight RBIs last week.
He had a career-best four RBIs against Tulane Saturday.
Linton was 6 of 7 in stolen bases and jumped from eighth to third in the UCI career records with his six nabbed bags last week. Linton currently has 42 stolen bases and is just three shy of moving into the No. 2 spot. He recorded a season-high four in a 4-0 win over San Diego March 4.
Against San Diego, Linton drove in a pair of runs.
Saturday, Linton was two for three at the plate in a 7-3 win over Tulane, including his first home run of the season. Sunday, he added had two RBIs, as we went two for five in a 5-1 victory over the Green Wave.
Linton leads the team with a .415 average and has a team-high 17 hits. He is second on the club with 13 RBIs and tied for first with 11 runs scored. Linton has a six-game hitting streak and tops the team with five multiple-hit games and four multiple-RBI games.
The Anteaters (10-1) play at USC tonight at 7.
