Cardinals overtake Red Sox

Seven runs down didn’t faze the Cardinals.

A 7-0 deficit is what they faced against the Red Sox in Majors Division play at Huntington Valley Little League yet they managed to fight their way back to record a 12-9 victory.

Red Sox pitcher Nick Krakower contained the Cardinals offensively for the first three innings but down seven runs, the Cards got key hits from Andrew Bogard, Matt Tavakoli and Brad Dominick to overtake the Red Sox.

Dodgers 5, Yankees 0

Jake Weiser hit a ground-rule double, and Ryan Fishel and George Gleason had hits that led to four runs for the Dodgers in their shutout of the Yankees.

Tyler Murray led the way on the mound for the Dodgers.

Jeremy Dorff and Josh Adams had hits for the Yankees.

Minor A Division

Dodgers 3, A’s 2

James Morton delivered a home run with two out in the bottom of the sixth to lift the Dodgers past the A’s.

The Dodgers had taken a 2-0 lead through three innings before the A’s scored single runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to tie the score.

At Ocean View Little League

Minor A Division

River Cats 6, Bees 5

Trailing 5-4 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, the River Cats produced two runs to pull out a win over the Bees.

Calvin Cruz started the inning with a single to right. One out later, Nick Pratto was hit by a pitch and then Anthony Martinez, down two strikes, delivered a two-run triple to left field to win the game.

Martinez also pitched three scoreless innings.

River Cats 13, Express 0

In a season opener between the teams, the River Cats scored a convincing win over the Express.

Sebastian Vercoe threw the first three shutout innings and the rotation of Nick Pratto, Harrison Butler and Max Nuremberg finished off the victory.

A balanced River Cats offensive attack was led by Pratto’s 2-run home run to left-center field.
