Intelligence officer to address Business Club

The Laguna Beach Business Club will hear Lt. Col. Abraham (Ret.) speak about his service on Guantanamo tribunals at a March 20 breakfast meeting.

Abraham is a decorated Army intelligence officer and counterterrorism analyst who served with the Office for the Administrative Review of the Detention of Enemy Combatants, the military department responsible for review of the status of Guantanamo Bay detainees.

Abraham is the first such officer to publicly criticize the tribunal process. His declaration, filed with the Supreme Court in June 2007, is widely credited with encouraging the Supreme Court — in a reversal so rare that it last occurred 60 years ago — to agree to hear two detainee cases, Al Odah v. United States and Boumediene v. Bush, reversing a decision made just two months earlier. He will speak about his experiences.

The public is invited to attend. The presentation begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Hotel Laguna, Catalina Room. The cost is $20 per person, including buffet breakfast. RSVP to Josh Wolff at (949) 720-4140 or jwolff@wolff-law.com. For more information about the Laguna Beach Business Club, visit www.LagunaBeachBusiness Club.com.
