El Morro adopts a seal

The 2008 El Morro Elementary Jog-A-Thon will be March 21.

The money raised at the Jog-A-Thon, the school’s largest fundraiser, allows several programs to continue. El Morro students are currently asking individuals in the community to sponsor them as they run around the school track.

After completing the event, students are given the option to take home prizes or donate the cost of their prize to a charitable organization.

This year that charity is the Pacific Marine Mammal Center. When students donate to the center they will “adopt” a seal. The money given will provide health care and fresh fish while the seals recuperate. When the seals are healthy the students and their families will be invited to the beach to release their seals.
