Santa Ana gathering set for former councilman

Memorial services are planned for former Newport Beach City Councilman Gary Proctor, including an informal get-together in Orange County for the prominent attorney, who died last week in San Jose.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. March 24 at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 81 N. 2nd St., in San Jose.

An informal gathering for friends of Proctor will be 5 to 8 p.m. March 26 at Original Mike’s, 100 S. Main St., Santa Ana.

Proctor was elected to the Newport Beach City Council in 2000 on a platform opposing expansion at John Wayne Airport, but he stepped down in 2003.

He said at the time that he felt the airport issues he ran for office on were no longer relevant to the city.
