Police to hold DUI checkpoint Tuesday

The Costa Mesa police will have a sobriety and drivers license checkpoint set up from 6 p.m. to midnight Tuesday on Placentia Avenue, north of 20th Street.

In 2007 police arrested 1,062 impaired drivers in Costa Mesa.

The Costa Mesa police work closely with Mothers against Drunk Driving on these types of accident prevention efforts and also on educating drivers on responsible drinking. Orange County’s MADD chapter maintains a task force that conducts free training sessions.

Those interested in participating in an upcoming training session should contact the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce at (714) 885-9090.
