Endorsements for Mayor Cook’s campaign pile up

Huntington Beach Mayor Debbie Cook has lined up more support in her bid to unseat U.S. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher: the endorsement of Rep. Jane Harman (D-Venice).

“Jane’s support is very meaningful to me because of her work on the Energy and Commerce Committee and Energy and Air Quality Subcommittee,” Cook said in a news release. “She is tackling issues that hold special importance to me and to my neighbors — issues that have not been addressed by the incumbent in this district.”

Harman’s endorsement follows those of U.S. Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Garden Grove) and State Sen. Alan Lowenthal (D-Long Beach).

Cook is now one of two Democrats in the race for the congressional seat after the deadline to file candidacy papers, down from the four who initially declared their interest.

Small business owner Dan Kalmick, 25, is also still in the race.

They will both face off on the primary ballot in June.
